Guilty Conscience (A Poem)

As we dance tonight,
I feel so terribly bad.
I see how happy you are in the moment,
Yet, I don’t have the heart to make you sad.
If you only knew what I hid from you,
You would no doubt be upset and very blue.
A moment’s weakness,
I thought it was all part of the game.
Can you blame me?
I thought you had done the same.
Now deep down I feel awful,
The pain in my heart is radiating onto my face.
And the movement of our bodies,
As our feet dance in this place.
I must walk away,
I cannot look you in the eye.
You ask me why?
Because my dear,
I cannot tell you anymore lies.

**This is not a poem about ME, its just a poem I wrote when I was inspired by the song below by my favorite singer, George Michael. I repeat, this is not a poem about me. Also, I wrote this last year and was going through my old poems and I realized that I hadn't posted this back up, as it had been previously posted under my old profile.**

I love the last few lines. They're so sincere and sad.
Happy to find out the truth Lady T, you had me worried. We should never do to another what we woldn't want them doing to us in a relation-ship, but it can happen. Once knew a girl who's fiance got seduced by a girl his best buddy had tempted him with cause he didn't want them to marry. She caught them in bed together; and as revenge tried to sleep with all his many friends. They wound up a happily married couple in the end though. Whew, inspired by George Micheal and not Lady T- Good poem and good for you!

Alastar- I am glad you are relieved lol. Of course this isn't me silly! I am not like that, I do believe that what we do always comes back to us (good or bad) so it would be very unwise to hurt another in love and expect things to go right down the line. Thank you for enjoying this!

Well you hit a nerve for many lovers who slipped away into anothers arm's for a night, day or weekend and ached with guilt for having done so to their partner. I don't know what it is about us humans, we fall in love, madly some of us.
We lust, we feel deeply for that partner and for some odd reason cheat? Why? there are so many excuses and reasons we make up for doing so and in the end it was a fling, possibly a cheap thrill, temptation in the moment. For those who can repent, forgive, move on with their Love for one another, it's truly a blessing and miracle.
For far to many, cheating ends a relationship abruptly and it's over...most people won't continue on with a cheater, nor should they, in my opinion. You wrote it well my dear, and of course I know it wasn't you... LoL...
